ABOUT ADRIAN HENDROFF
Photography has been my passion since my early twenties. I used to carry a Canon Powershot everywhere with me on my travels. I have always been fascinated by big, bold landscapes especially those in the mountains. In my late twenties, I started using a Canon EOS DSLR which gave me more creative control. For a period in my life, photography took a backseat as I worked myself up the ladder as an engineer and also took the time to write my first book From High Places: A Journey Through Ireland's Great Mountains (published by The History Press Ireland) as well as seven other Irish walking guidebooks (published by The Collins Press). Now as I approach the age of fifty, photography has once again become a major part of my life. It always excites me to plan my next photoshoot then visiting an area and seeing it all come together. Over the last few years I have started working on a guidebook project for Fotovue which has really opened my eyes to all genres of photography. Now it's not just landscapes but also cityscapes, coastal scenes, wildlife, heritage, astrophotography and street photography. For me, photography is an art as well as a means of escapism, if only briefly when the sky fills with colour at dawn and dusk, or when the moon rises in the sky giving that unique moment to be captured.
My photography is a journey, and my aim is to share that journey with you. As I am based in the Emerald Isle, you will find most of my photos taken in Ireland. So if you have a special affinity with Ireland, I sincerely hope you find something here to grace your walls or as a special gift for that special someone. I will also upload images from my travels around the world from time to time, so do bookmark my site for a return visit, or keep in touch via my social media channels.
I am a member of the Outdoor Writers & Photographers Guild (OWPG) and Mountain Training Association (MTA), and my photographs have been featured in the Belfast Telegraph, Irish Examiner, Irish Times, Irish Independent, Trail, TGO, Mountain World Ireland, Walking World Ireland, Trek and Mountain, Walking Wales Magazine, Irish Mountain Log, Outsider, Cover West Magazine and Gafencu Men. In 2020, a collection of my photographs have also been used in the Irish Peaks book published by Mountaineering Ireland and the Big Trails: Great Britain & Ireland published by Vertebrate Publishing.
I run photography workshops and tours, as well as give lectures and judge at camera clubs.
